Austin is experiencing a wave of mass migration. While keeping to its eclectic heritage intertwined with Southern roots and hospitality, Austin continues to evolve as it becomes home to many. By engaging immigrant communities, A Place to Call Home depicts the cumulative vision of finding ‘home’, belonging and assimilation in Austin.

Worn out cotton sheets were collected from people in various Austin neighbourhoods and up-cycled as the backdrop for this piece. Twenty vision workshops were held to allow new immigrants, refugees and asylum seekers to express their sentiments, wildest dreams and hopes of finding a sense of home and belonging in Austin.
